Remedial Massage Therapy (Gawler, Unley)

Massage Therapy is often another important component in treatment programs. It involves the use of therapeutic techniques in the manipulation of soft tissue to bring about and promote health, function and improved performance. Whilst massage is a stand-alone therapy it is particularly effective when used in conjunction with Chiropractic and Naturopathic care.

1. Massage Therapy Techniques

Some of the techniques used by our Massage Therapists include:

Relaxation Massage: (Gawler, Unley)

Great for stress management. This relaxing treatment incorporates Swedish and Aromatherapy techniques to deliver a soothing and nurturing experience.

Remedial Massage: (Gawler, Unley)

As the name suggests this type of massage is used to help ‘remedy’ your muscle related complaints. It incorporates deep tissue massage, thermal therapy (heat application) and stretches. It is great for the treatment and prevention of injuries.

Sports Massage: (Gawler, Unley)

Sports massage is a very firm remedial style type of massage that is more specifically tailored to your sporting injuries or ailments. It can become quite vigorous at times so it is not meant to be a relaxing massage. Deep pressure, joint mobilisation and stretches are used to assist with your flexibility and help to ease muscle tension. This type of massage can be modified to suit you whether you are a professional athlete or a “weekend warrior’.

Hot Rock Massage: (Unley)

This is a soothing treatment which involves applying heated rocks (and oil) to your muscles to warm and soften them. It promotes relaxation and reduces tension. This is a lovely experience on a cold winters’ day.

Trigger Pointing:

Firm digital pressure is applied to specific knots in your muscles that cause pain and restricted movement.

Myotherapy:

Myofascial pain is usually not specific and you would often describe it as a 'deep ache', 'tightness' or 'tenderness' in an area. Myotherapy is designed to provide relief for this condition by loosening muscle tissues, releasing toxins from the muscles and helping with blood and oxygen circulation.

Positional Release:

Some conditions are only a problem when you are in certain positions. Release of the tender points in your muscles whilst you are in those painful positions can provide fast effective pain relief.

2. Exercise Prescription and Injury Rehabilitation (Gawler, Unley)

Our Chiropractors and Massage Therapists will prescribe exercises and help with the rehabilitation of your injuries so you can return to your normal activities as soon as possible.
